Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Romantapedia app collects, why, and the choices you have. In short: you can read everything in the app without an account. The app counts anonymously which series and features are used, which you can turn off, and we only store information about you if you create an account to join Theories, the in-app forum. We don't show ads, we don't sell or share your information, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Who we are
Romantapedia is published by Campos Tech Consultoria em Tecnologia da Informação Ltda, Porto Alegre, Brazil ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at support@romantapedia.com.
Without an account
The book you're reading, your chosen theme and icon, your court quiz result and similar settings are stored only on your device. We can't see them. The home-screen widget reads them from the same place.
Anonymous usage analytics
To learn what to improve, the app sends us anonymous usage events: which series you add and how far you've read, which screens you open, when the Premium screen appears and from which feature, whether a subscription was started or completed, and whether you sign in, post, comment or vote in Theories. Each event comes with basic technical details (app version, device model, iOS version and language) and a random identifier created on your device.
These events are never linked to your name, your email or your Theories account, they don't include what you write, and they aren't used for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites. Your approximate country is worked out from your IP address when an event arrives; the IP address itself isn't kept.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings › Privacy › Share anonymous usage data. The app then stops sending events.
If you create a Theories account
To post, comment or vote you sign in with your email address or with Sign in with Apple. We then store:
- Sign-in details: your email address if you sign in with email. With Sign in with Apple we receive only an identifier from Apple; the app doesn't ask Apple for your name or email. We also keep the language you use the app in, so sign-in emails arrive in it.
- Your public profile: your display name, court, rank and points, the date you joined, and how many theories and comments you've written.
- What you write and do: your theories, comments and votes, the readers you've blocked, and any reports you file, including the reason and details you give.
What other readers can see: your display name, profile, theories and comments are public to everyone who uses Theories. Your email address, votes, blocks and reports are never shown to other readers.
We use this information only to run Theories: to sign you in, show your posts and profile, count votes and points, and keep the community safe. Posts reported by several readers are hidden automatically and reviewed by us; we may remove content or accounts that break the community rules.
Subscriptions
Romantapedia Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and never shares your card or billing details with us. The app only checks with Apple, on your device, whether you have an active subscription.
Fan art
Character art is loaded directly from the sites where artists publish it, such as ArtStation, DeviantArt, Tumblr and Bluesky. When an image loads, that site receives your device's IP address and basic technical information, as with any web image, under its own privacy policy. We don't receive or store this.
Who processes data for us
- PostHog receives and stores the anonymous usage events, on servers in the United States.
- Supabase hosts the Theories database and sign-in, on servers in the United States. Like most services it keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and App Store payments.
- An email delivery provider sends your sign-in codes.
These providers process data only on our instructions. Because Supabase's and PostHog's servers are in the United States, your information is transferred outside Brazil and the European Economic Area, with the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
Legal basis
We process account data because it's needed to provide Theories to you (contract), and we handle reports and moderation to keep the community safe (legitimate interest). We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it (legitimate interest), and you can opt out at any time. Under Brazil's LGPD these correspond to articles 7(V) and 7(IX); under the GDPR, articles 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f).
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Theories › Account › Delete account). This immediately deletes your profile, theories, comments, votes, blocks and reports. Copies can remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they're overwritten. Anonymous usage events are kept for no more than two years.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the LGPD, the GDPR and California law, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else, email support@romantapedia.com and we'll reply within 15 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Brazil that's the ANPD.
Children
Theories isn't meant for children. You must be at least 13 to create an account, or older where local law requires it. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the database only lets each reader change their own content.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
